Ugandan brass meets big band
Brass for Africa and Teacher's Groove

Music Connects e. V., with support from the Gasteig presents Brass for Africa and Teacher`s Groove, the teachers’ big band of the Grassau music school. Electrifying Ugandan brass band music and the rich sound of Grassau big band Teacher's Groove make for good vibes in Hall X of Gasteig HP8. All proceeds from the concert will go to the Music Connects project »Lab Uganda«. Housed inside a truck, the project’s unique mobile music lab brings a stage, recording studio and teaching facilities to hundreds of refugees in Uganda. More information. More information
Brass for Africa
The Brass for Africa band is something very special: all its musicians grew up in slums, were saved by music and now themselves teach music and life skills in the slums of Uganda. Their passion is palpable.
Teacher's Groove
Made up of teachers from the renowned Grassau music school, the 16-piece big band Teacher's Groove from Chiemsee is the evening’s Bavarian counterpart to the Brass for Africa band.

About the Munich »Lab Uganda« project
The concert’s initiator and organiser is the Munich-based charity Music Connects e. V. The volunteer-staffed charity , took its Bavarian music truck, the »LAB UGANDA« to BidiBidi in Uganda, the world’s second largest refugee settlement. Together with Brass for Africa, the truck, which houses a recording studio, stage, cinema and numerous instruments, has already helped to improve the lives of thousands of young people there. As the name says: music connects!
