Greece 2018, 101 minutes, original language with German subtitles, directed by Chrysanthos Konstantinidis, screenplay by Christoph U. Schminck-Gustavus
The village of Lyngiades in Epirus is referred to as »The Balcony« because of its magnificent view of the city of Ioannina. Well worth a visit, the mountain village experienced a terrible fate on 3 October 1943 during the German occupation when the »Edelweiss« Wehrmacht unit of mountain troops massacred its inhabitants in »retaliation«. Five survivors recounted their experiences to historian Christoph Schminck-Gustavus when he began his search for the truth there at the end of the 1980s.
The screening will be attended by Christoph Schminck-Gustavus and director Chrysanthos Konstantinidis.
