Literature & Knowledge – Reading
For 18 days from 8 AM until 11 PM, you can browse, read and peruse free of charge in the Gasteig and online. Authors will give readings and sign books, and plenty of exciting information and activities will be available in the net. Since most of the events and readings are held in German, the information on the Book Fair events is not available in English. If you have any questions about individual events, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The 61st Munich Book Fair is Going Ahead!
At this year’s Munich Book Fair, you will once again be able to actually hold books in your hands as you peruse them, and have the chance of meeting some of their authors, albeit with a hygiene concept and distancing rules in place. Look forward to a varied programme and lots and lots of books!
2020 is a particularly challenging year for the entire reading programme of the Munich Book Fair. But now more than ever, the value of a great book to become immersed in is becoming apparent, while – as far as possible – direct contact between authors and their readers of all ages is an inspirational experience for both. That’s why the organisers of the Munich Book Fair have taken up the challenge and compiled an extraordinary package of great stories for all who love good books – both online and live.
In the Open Family Programme …
… renowned authors of books for children and young adults meet in two exciting formats: In the live & streamed readings, a limited number of book enthusiasts can experience authors live in the Gasteig. All others can watch a recording of the event later on the Book Fair website. The popular format »Das literarische Jugendquartett« (»The Literary Youth Quartet«) will also take place as a hybrid event.
In the Web Lounge, Cornelia Funke and Anna Ruhe will present their latest books. These hosted readings will take place live. Here, you can attend a reading live online as well as getting ample background information directly from the authors. Also on the programme again this year is the Book Fair classic »The 100 best books for children and young people in 2020« – available in the Book Fair Media Library from the first Saturday of the show (14.11. to 6.12.).
