The late Tang Dynasty 500 years ago: At a waterfall, the young snake catcher Xuan finds a mysterious woman named Xiaobai who has lost her memory. Together, the two set out in search of clues to her identity; a venture that brings them face to face with mortal dangers and during which they fall in love with each other. As the mystery surrounding Xiaobai’s identity unravels, a catastrophe threatens.

The film is based on the popular Chinese folk tale »Legend of the White Snake«, in which the ghost of a white snake takes the shape of a woman and falls in love with a human.
