The January leg of the opening relay

On the premise that this beautiful location deserves a good, long celebration, Munich’s longest house-warming party goes into its next round. In January, the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich (HMTM) holds a festival weekend together with its sister institutes in Gasteig HP8 – the perfect opportunity to introduce themselves to the audience.

Look forward to a great evening of Mendelssohn! Under the baton of Marcus Bosch, the Munich University Symphony Orchestra (HSO) will perform Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s Symphony No 5, Op 107 (»Reformation«) and Symphony No 2, Op 52 (»Lobgesang«). The singers are Adelheid Baumgartner and Alisa Milosevic (soprano), Lukas Siebert (tenor) and the Madrigal Choir (rehearsal: Martin Steidler).

Sunday, 16 January | HALL X | from 11 AM

Students and teachers from the future study areas in Gasteig HP8 will demonstrate their skills in four free concerts: Students of Historical Performance Practice will start proceedings at 11 AM, followed by chamber music with accordion, dulcimer and zither at 2 PM and the brass classes at 4 PM, with students of the Jazz Institute concluding the evening at 8 PM.
