Conducted by Lorenzo Viotti
Vienna’s rising star Andreas Ottensamer, principal clarinettist of the Berlin Philharmonic, and Lorenzo Viotti, one of the most sought-after conductors of the younger generation, who won the Salzburg Festival Young Conductors Award at the age of 25: a refreshingly young, top-class mix!
Andreas Ottensamer’s clarinet whirls and dances, while also being carried by a sophisticated wind sound. Praised for his sensitive musicality, his beautiful tone and his versatility, he will impressively demonstrate his magnificent skill on the clarinet in Mozart’s much-loved Clarinet Concerto.
One of the most sought-after conductors of the young generation and the Gulbenkian Orchestra’s principal conductor, Lorenzo Viotti won the Salzburg Festival Young Conductors Award and the Cadaqués Orquestra International Conducting Competition at the early age of 25. The International Opera Awards named him »Newcomer of the Year«. In 2017, Lorenzo Viotti conducted at the Salzburg Festival. At the 50th anniversary of the Salzburg Easter Festival, he conducted a concert in honour of Herbert von Karajan, alternating at the baton with Christian Thielemann. Lorenzo Viotti has now been appointed chief conductor of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and the Dutch National Opera. The Opéra National de Paris and the Metropolitan Opera in New York are waiting for him.
