Full-length story ballet in two acts by Mikhail Venshchikov. The work celebrated its world premier with great success in Belgium in 2019. Based upon the music of Georges Bizet, this is a brand new version of the love triangle story, still popular after 200 years. Mikhail Venshchikov has choreographed this production in classical style, incorporating an artistic, modern video installation by Viktoria Zlotnikova, in collaboration with the artist Vyacheslav Okunev. The costumes were designed by Tatjana Koroljova. A story of love, passion and death, this version of »Carmen« is free of clichés – a ballet especially for couples, art lovers and dance enthusiasts.
Founded in 2016 in Saint Petersburg by Mikhail Venshchikov, the Arts Center Saint Michel regularly tours with soloists from the Bolshoi, Mariinski and Mikhailovski ballet companies. They are headquartered in Saint Petersburg and Antwerp. Guest performances and tours have taken the company to Belgium, Germany, Japan, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Guatemala and Mexico. Featuring mostly new productions in an ever-expanding repertoire, the company thrills audiences worldwide.
