Opera in two acts by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Text by Emanuel Schikaneder (1751–1812)

Version of the Freie Landestheater Bayern Performed in German language (with dialogues partly in Bavarian dialect)
Recommended from 6 years
Duration: 160 minutes. An interval after about 65 minutes

Mozart’s last opera, »The Magic Flute« captivates audiences to this day like hardly any other stage piece. It is the most-performed work of the musical theatre repertoire worldwide. Who doesn’t know the popular song of Papageno (»Der Vogelhändler bin ich ja«), the highly dramatic coloratura aria of the Queen of the Night (»Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen«) or the love story between Tamino and Pamina? With his humorous, touching texts, Mozart’s friend and librettist Emanuel Schickaneder created comedy, fairy tale and allegory that are carried by Mozart’s masterfully composed music to find their way directly into the hearts of the audience.
