36th International Documentary Film Festival Munich
Digital event / Glass Hall / shop windows
Children & Youth – Kids & Teens
Taking place online once more in 2021, the 36th DOK.fest München will stream 130 documentaries from all over the world to your home.
Contributions include international film discoveries from competitions and insights into Canadian society beyond the headlines in the DOK.guest Canada series. With its homage to Helena Třeštíková, the festival presents a renowned Czech director. And the DEFA retrospective looks back on five decades of documentaries from the former East German state-owned film company.
»Schule des Sehens« – the School of Seeing – is the festival’s coveted DOK.education programme for children and young people. Normally taking place live at the Gasteig, it will also be given the digital treatment this year.

»Stories aus der Stadt«
The »Stories from the City« shop window exhibition brings real-life experiences and digitally documented material back into the urban landscape.
As part of a workshop, youngsters explored the city with their smartphones and experimented with documentary storytelling techniques. Their photos, stories and voice messages will be presented in a shop window exhibition in Munich, including in the display windows of the Munich City Library and the PIXEL.
Film poster exhibition
Take a look at the artistic film posters (from April 22) in the Gasteig’s Glass Hall to discover what the DOK.fest has to offer.
