Exhibition by Michael Jochum

Michael Jochum founded »Projekt Fotografie« more than 30 years ago at the Münchner Volkshochschule adult education centre. During the 1980s, when photography was still struggling for recognition as an art form in this area, Jochum created a photographic school of perception that was open to everyone who wanted to engage at the deepest level with image and its aesthetics and who was searching for their personal visual language. Over the last three decades, »Projekt Fotografie« has established itself as an important home for free artistic photography, where participants question societal layers of meaning within the photographic image in a discursive exchange while developing their own concepts of image.

In cooperation with the Department of Photography & Video/Film and to commemorate the anniversary, Aspekte Galerie is showing works by participants of »Projekt Fotografie« and by Michael Jochum. The exhibition contains a broad spectrum of image projects: from serial black-and-white prints on barite and colour tableaux to expansive photographic installations, photo magazines and artists’ books.
