Carole Alston

received her first engagement in Switzerland at the Stadttheater Bern after studying at the Howard University College of Fine Arts (Washington D.C.). Various engagements and tours followed, as well as leading roles in various musical productions throughout Europe. As a jazz singer, she worked with well-known musicians such as Erich Kleinschuster, Fritz Pauer, Erwin Schmid or the Markus Gaudriot Trio. Carole Alston has been teaching as a guest lecturer at the HMTM since the winter semester 2021/22.

Werner Schmitt

celebrates his farewell from active teaching at the Jazz Institute with this concert. He has been associated with the Jazz Institute since the beginning of his own studies at the HMTM in 1974. His musical range has enabled him to perform, record in studios and tour with various renowned artists of different musical styles. In the course of his career he has worked with Dusko Goykovich, Ernie Watts and Donna Hightower, among others. Since 1987 he has also played as a permanent drummer in the legendary orchestra Hugo Strasser.
