JU[MB]LE – Jugendensemble für Neue Musik Bayern
Conductor: Johannes X. Schachtner
Bavarian youth ensemble for contemporary music JU[MB]LE is entering its fifth season. The programme for this first anniversary season for the first time includes works by the ensemble’s two founders. One of these is the ensemble work »Komma-Sequenz« by Munich composer Alexander Strauch; the other – the extensive »TransForm« cycle by Johannes X. Schachtner – is a revision of »Meta/morph«, which was written in recent years for various youth ensembles and will now for the first time be performed in its entirety in a somewhat expanded line-up. Having been established following the example of Germany’s other states, the Bavarian ensemble is by now also making a name for itself in the world of »New Music« beyond Bavaria’s borders. The programme is rounded off by new works by Würzburg composer Marcus Maria Reißenberger and composition student HaEun Cho (class of Prof. Andreas Dohmen, Hochschule für Musik Würzburg).
JU[MB]LE was founded in Munich in 2015 and brings young, exceptionally talented young musicians from Bavaria between the ages of 14 and 23 into contact with top-class lecturers, composers and soloists in rehearsal phases – such as with the singer Salome Kammer and the composer Detlev Glanert – and develops concert programmes with them. The repertoire of JU[MB]LE includes works by renowned composers of the 20th and 21st centuries, compositions by up-and-coming artists as well as compositions regularly commissioned by JU[MB]LE since its foundation for its unusual (complete) line-ups, to date by Jan Müller-Wieland, Stefan Schulzki and Birke Bertelsmeier. JU[MB]LE presents itself in sinfonietta formation, but also in smaller chamber music formations. The artistic director is Johannes X. Schachtner.
JU[MB]LE is sponsored by the association Tonkünstler München e. V. Sponsors include the Bayerischer Musikrat, the Bayerischer Rundfunk, the Bavarian Ministry of Science and the Arts, the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, the Department of Arts and Culture of the City of Munich, Munich Regional Committee »Jugend musiziert«, Tonkünstlerverband Bayern e. V., Verband Bayerischer Schulmusiker e. V. and Verband Bayerischer Sing- und Musikschulen e. V.
