Stefan Moser plays the original film music by Philip Glass live to the film screening.
»Koyaanisqatsi« is an extraordinary film. Awarded several major film prizes, film scholars even voted it one of the five most important productions in the history of film. Godfrey Reggio’s 1982 feature-length masterpiece contains not a single spoken word. The film consists exclusively of sequences that, in their entirety, form a critique of Western society’s modern lifestyle.
The music for this film was composed by Philip Glass, one of the most important contemporary composers. In 2012, he received the »Praemium Imperiale« from the Japanese Imperial House, which is generally considered the »Nobel Prize of the Arts«. For the film Koyaanisqatsi, through which he became world famous, he composed an exceptional, precisely timed score that continues to influence composers to this day.
