Wanderlust and travel bugs: How we’re all yearning for the chance to explore the world again!
The popular Munich-based international ensemble JISR // BRÜCKE is again embarking on its annual winter’s outing to far away lands. This year, the musical journey takes us »from Minsk to Andalusia«, with prominent guests from Munich’s international music scene. Winners of international awards from Eastern Europe will be enriching the sounds of the unconventionally orchestrated JISR ensemble with melodies and instruments from their own cultures.
The Belarus Michael Leontchik is a master of free improvisation and of the cimbalom – a Russian hammered dulcimer; from Moldavia we have the the sensitive Slava Cernavca on various clarinets; and from Georgia the versatile and passionate double bass player Giorgi Makhoshvili. Together with the JISR ensemble, they have dug deep into the treasure chest of Eastern European classical, jazz and folk music and fathom the boundaries between the various musical traditions from Minsk via Istanbul to Andalusia in a passionate and accomplished performance.
»Jisr« is Arabic for bridge, and for its fifth concert in the Gasteig’s Black Box (this time as a live stream – see below), the celebrated international Munich ensemble of that name will be joined by top-class Eastern European musicians. With their impressive mix that blends musical influences from various cultures, JISR // BRÜCKE have found their very own style, which was described on Bavarian Television as »Mix Music Culture par excellence«. Working with a variable line-up and exponents of various genres, such as Konstantin Wecker, Iva Bittová, the Bayerische Philharmonie and Embryo, among others, JISR is all about musical exchange, fusion and improvisation: a microcosm of different musical hues, from krautrock to classical.
This concert is a digital event that will be stream on the YouTube channel of JISR.
