Max Raabe knows how to write good songs: As the title of his latest album (The perfect moment ... we’re missing it today) says, it’s best to do nothing – even at the risk of missing perfect moments. Only thus does THE perfect moment have the space to arrive in when inspiration strikes.
This is how the Max Raabe’s current album »Der perfekte Moment ... wird heut verpennt« came into being, in cooperation with »experts of pop« Annette Humpe, Christoph Israel, Peter Plate, Ulf Leo Sommer, Daniel Faust and Achim Hagemann. Published in October 2017, the record has since reached gold.
To the album’s title song and the racy joint Raabe/Hagemann production »Fahrrad fahr’n«, music videos were also produced in 2017/18.
»Der perfekte Moment ... wird heut verpennt« is also the title of Max Raabe & Palast Orchester’s current programme. Light-footed, the subtle irony of songs from the 1920s and 30s melds with the off-the-wall humour in »Raabe pop« songs like »Guten Tag, liebes Glück«, »Ich bin dein Mann« and »Willst du bei mir bleiben«. For this tour, Mr Raabe has sought his animal namesake’s support (»Rabe« – German for raven – being pronounced the same as the singer’s family name). The posters show Max Raabe and Rudi »Rabe« sitting together on an overhead cable, enjoying a perfect moment.
