Music – Folk Music
Music – Jazz
Music – Classical Music
A classic German »Boazn« neighbourhood bar classic
A vibrant blend of classical, jazz, gypsy and folk music
They're actually all pretty good at classical music; after all, they’ve all studied it. But if you’re born into the Well family – as three of the four members of NouWellCousines are – then you’re exposed to folk music and encouraged to try out other musical directions practically from the cradle onwards. They may all be closely related but the four people up on the stage all have very different personalities. And they will all enthral you with their joyous playing, virtuoso skills and versatility. As well as classical pieces, they all simply want to play the music that they themselves really like.
Their main source of inspiration is the Johannis Café in the Haidhausen district. This cult venue in Munich was (and still is) the key meeting point for young musicians; a neighbourhood bar that is a melting pot for all the different cultures and faces. This is where you’ll find students, old soaks, hipsters, pensioners, academics and workmen sitting around and blustering about life, whatever the time of day or night. The tall tales that are spun here every day also end up as lyrics and the programme that the cousins have compiled was inspired by the music that fills the Johannis Café whenever anyone gets their instrument out. The result is a boisterous blend of musical styles, from classical, jazz and gypsy through to folk music; a blend that is as diverse as the audience and the music playing on the jukebox. A real Boaznklassik!
