Music – Contemporary Classical Music
Requiem Times 2: Performed will be the Requiem in C minor by the rather unknown Michael Haydn from 1771 and the premiere of a contemporary requiem by Munich composer Andreas Begert (*1990). Under the musical direction of Markus Bauer (*1994), the Heinrich-Schütz-Ensemble Vornbach and the international baroque orchestra Concerto München (directed by Johannes Berger) present this exciting, novel comparison of tradition and modernity.
Drawing on the traditional Latin mass text, musical all-rounder Begert’s modern, mellifluous compositional style is reminiscent of film music, but with the same instrumentation as Haydn (old tuning).
The work was composed especially for this project. The result is an explosive sound experience that highlights the differences between the two epochs while at the same time connecting the two. The result is a unique musical experience for both adherents of classical music and innovative music aficionados.
