His interpretations of the German romantic opera and concert repertoire are considered exemplary throughout the world. The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung concluded that Christian Thielemann as principal conductor had led the Staatskapelle Dresden to the »apex of its glorious sound«.
Julia Fischer has long been one of the most important violin soloists in the world and has been awarded the German Federal Cross of Merit. She plays a violin made by Giovanni Battista Guadagnini in 1742.
