»As Far As My Fingertips Take Me« is an encounter between two people separated by a wall who can only touch each other’s hands and arms. On one side of the wall sits the street artist and musician Basel Zaraa. He was born in Yarmouk Camp for Palestinian refugees in Syria. Years later his family was forced to flee again. While the audience listen to a song composed by Zaraa, inspired by his sisters’ journey from the camp in Damascus to Sweden, Zaraa draws on the arm of an audience member. Through sound and physical contact, this intimate performance explores the human need to be »touched« by stories of suffering in order to be able show empathy.
Tania El Khoury staged »Stories Of Refuge« at SPIELART back in 2013 and »Gardens Speak« in 2015.
