Prof. Kanani completed his studies in industrial science and received his doctorate in the field of solid-state physics at the TU Berlin. In 1979 he was awarded the Venia Legendi in the field of electrochemistry. He was a visiting professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Florida in the USA as well as at Sakarya University in Turkey. In addition to lecturing about Iranian intellectual greats, Prof. Kanani has published several books dealing with various aspects of Persian culture. His latest book, »Hafis, der größte Lyriker persischer Zunge« (»Hafez, the Greatest Poet in the Persian Tongue«) will be published soon. Since 2008, the »Prof. Kanani Prize« has been awarded every two years to three young Iranian scientists for their outstanding theoretical and practical achievements in the fields of electroplating and environmental protection. A year ago, he founded the non-profit »Nasser Kanani Foundation«, whose aim is to promote research and education in the field of materials science.
