Reading and panel discussion in both Persian and German
Prof. Dr. Ing. habil. Nasser Kanani tells about the life and work of one of the greatest physicians and philosophers.

Prof. Kanani completed his studies in industrial science and received his doctorate in the field of solid-state physics at the TU Berlin. In 1979 he was awarded the Venia Legendi in the field of electrochemistry. He was a visiting professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Florida in the USA as well as at Sakarya University in Turkey. Prof. Nasser Kanani has published 200 scientific articles in German- and English-language journals and six textbooks on the subject of electrochemistry and has received several awards for his scientific achievements.

In addition to lecturing about Iranian intellectual greats, Prof. Kanani has published several books dealing with various aspects of Persian culture. Upon publication of his book about the Persian poet Hafez »Hafez and his Divan« in 2016, he was presented with certificates of recognition by the Prime Minister and the Minister of Research, Innovation and Science of Ontario (Canada). His latest book, »Hafis, der größte Lyriker persischer Zunge« (»Hafez, the Greatest Poet in the Persian Tongue«) will be published soon. Since 2008, the »Prof. Kanani Prize« has been awarded every two years to three young Iranian scientists for their outstanding theoretical and practical achievements in the fields of electroplating and environmental protection. A year ago, he founded the non-profit »Nasser Kanani Foundation«, whose aim is to promote research and education in the field of materials science.
