The fantasy novel series on which the cult TV series »Game of Thrones« is based already has music in its title: »A Song of Ice and Fire«. And, composed like a symphony the novels are indeed multi-layered, a fact mirrored by Ramin Djawadi's original film music. It comprises everything that has led to the worldwide success of the television series »Game of Thrones« based on the novel by American writer George R. R. Martin: drama, passion, love, enmity, surprising plot twists and at times almost unbearable tension.
But the gripping music also describes the vastness of the landscape, the chilling cold, the churning of mud on a battlefield, the shimmering heat and, of course, the ecstatic faltering of the main characters – be it out of untamed love or blind hatred. Lies and disgrace, shame and triumph, farewell and innocence are congenially translated into music. Ramin Djawadi, who will not be present at the concerts in person, has created music that stands for itself.
The cult series can be experienced again this year on stages in Germany in a concert with philharmonic orchestra and choir comprising 150 people. All arrangements are written by Franz Bader, whose success with this format and the previous »Game Music Live« in past years speaks for itself.
