Since 2010, »The Phantom of the Opera« by authors Deborah Sasson and Jochen Sautter has been captivating audiences on over 450 stages throughout Europe, making this show one of the most successful touring musicals in Europe. Written to mark the 100th anniversary of the 1910 novel »Le Fantôme de l'Opéra« by Gaston Leroux, on which the musical is also based, the score was composed by Deborah Sasson and Jochen Sautter, who have enriched their music with well-known quotations from operas.

For the last time ever, Deborah Sasson, the world-renowned Boston soprano and Echo Klassik prizewinner, takes the role of Christine. Her multi-faceted, powerful voice is perfect for this mix of opera and musical. Uwe Kröger plays the Phantom, feared by the world and emotionally torn. Kröger celebrated his breakthrough with the role of Death in the world premiere of »Elisabeth« and has conquered the hearts of audiences ever since. He played the leading roles in the world premières of »Rebecca«, »Mozart«, »The Visit«, »Heidi« and in the German premieres of »Sunset Boulevard«, »Miss Saigon«, »Doctor Dolittle« and »The Addams Family« as well as »Napoleon« at London’s West End.

In this production, Jochen Sautter plays the rich, attractive Count Raoul de Chagny. The remaining cast consists of selected singers, dancers and actors from the German-speaking countries. An 18-piece orchestra rounds off the production.

The stage design, which thrives on the interplay of impactful, three-dimensional video projections by internationally acclaimed multimedia artist Daniel Stryjecki and the stage elements built by Michael Scott of the Metropolitan Opera in New York, has been completely reworked for this anniversary tour: The dramatic fall of the chandelier, the mysterious rendezvous on the roof of the opera house, the underground boat trip, the uncanny encounter in the cemetery and the terrifying underworld of the opera house are now depicted even more vividly than before.
