As part of the 8th Hungarian Film Day, the Hungarian Consulate-General presents a new film by Oscar winner László Nemes Jeles. The film will be shown in the original Hungarian language with German subtitles.
Summer 1913: the last days of peace in Budapest. After many years, Írisz Leiter returns to the buzzing capital of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. The orphan dreams of getting a job in the famous hat salon of her deceased parents. The new owner, Oscar Brill, rejects her and tries to remove her from the city. Through a visit from a stranger, she learns that she has a brother, Kálmán, of whose existence she was unaware. As Iris investigates, she is drawn ever deeper into the morass of the city. The only fixed point seems to be the magnificent hat salon, but behind its splendour a dark secret is revealed.
