The programme comprises poems by Clemens Brentano exquisitely set to music. Among the composers are discoveries such as Louise Reichardt (the daughter of Goethe aficionado and promoter of Romanticism Johann Friedrich Reichardt) and Bettina von Arnim (the poet’s sister), who is an expert on Romantic composers – Johannes Brahms, Ludwig Thuille, Joachim Raff and Richard Strauss, among others – as well as exponents of modernism, such as Jörg Widmann and Wolfgang Rihm.
