Free for All! Munich City Library Makes its Online Services Available to All Munich City Library

As the Gasteig has to remain closed until 19 April due to the Corona pandemic, the Munich City Library has a unique offer: For three months, everyone living in the Munich region can access a large selection of e-books, newspapers and audio books free of charge.

»We want to continue to be a welcoming place for everyone« goes the library’s motto. So rather than just leaving its users out in the rain, the Munich City Library provides its extensive online services free of charge for everyone.

If you are looking for inspiring stories, you can choose from around 60,000 German-language media for download or streaming. The library’s stock also includes numerous English-language eBooks and audio books, including classical and modern literature from America and the UK. The PressReader keeps readers up to date with news from 100 countries in 60 languages, while the archive of the Süddeutsche Zeitung has also been made available to the public. In the City Library’s Onleihe digital loans platform (external link), numerous German-language journals are available.

Registration for the free digital subscription is quick and easy. Just use the provided online form. For details on how to register, visit the website of the Munich City Library. The subscription runs for three months (until 30 June 2020 at the latest) and ends automatically.
