A visit to live events in the Gasteig is currently possible without proof of testing. The Münchner Volkshochschule returns to teaching face-to-face. Please take into account the applicable hygiene regulations of the house during your visit.

Current Regulations

The Thirteenth Bavarian Infection Protection Measures Ordinance (in German language; valid since June 7th) enables further incidence-dependent openings in private and public areas. If the incidence is below 50, visitors do not need proof of testing. More informations about the current situation offers

Opening Times, Gastronomy and Hygiene Regulations

The Gasteig is open again every day from 8 AM to 11 PM. A visit to the outdoor pop-up »Charlie Scout« on the terrace in front of the Gasteig is currently possible without reservation and without proof of testing. Please observe the generally applicable hygiene regulations when visiting the Gasteig.

Coronavirus Test Centre

The Gasteig has a coronavirus test centre for all Munich residents from 5 years of age upwards. Four test stations in the foyer of the Carl Orff Hall on the first floor are open from 8 AM to 8 PM daily. Please note that you must book an appointment at before coming to be tested.

  • Munich Philharmonic: With an incidence below 100 the Munich Philharmonic are playing in front of a live audience again. Further concerts are available as stream. Current information is available at
  • Munich City Library: The Munich City Library in the Gasteig is open. Please note important informations for your visit on the Munich City Library’s website (in German language). There you can also find up-to-date information on available services and digital events.
  • Münchner Volkshochschule: The Münchner Volkshochschule (Munich Adult Education Center) returns to teaching face-to-face on June 7, 2021. Online offerings continue to take place. For up-to-date information, visit the website of the Münchner Volkshochschule (in German language).
  • University of Music and Performing Arts Munich (HMTM): Classes will continue under strict hygiene regulations. However, until further notice, no public events will take place at the HMTM during this period. For up-to-date information and regulations, visit (in German language).
