Enjoy Free Munich Philharmonic Concert Videos Live again after a long break: principal conductor Valery Gergiev Hans Engels

Not yet in its full line-up and with a much-modified seating arrangement on stage, but definitely ready to perform: The Munich Philharmonic are bringing back life into the Philharmonic Hall, with several concerts and rehearsal sessions being available on video.

Video of the first public live concert with Valery Gergiev
Principal conductor Valery Gergiev did not want to miss the opportunity of conducting the first concerts in the Philharmonic Hall before an audience of 100 people after our long enforced break. On 23 June 2020 under his baton, the Munich Philharmonic performed a concert of Prokofiev and Schubert symphonies as well as Shostakovich’s Concerto for piano, trumpet and string orchestra with pianist Anna Vinnitskaya and trumpeter Guido Segers. The live video recording of this concert is now available for three months (until mid-October 2020) in the BR-Klassik media library.

Karina Canellakis: Premiere with the Munich Philharmonic
The debut of conductor Karina Canellakis in June 2020 was also filmed and can be viewed online from 14 July.  Several years ago, Sir Simon Rattle encouraged the young American to switch from the violin to the baton. For her premiere with the Munich Philharmonic, the rising star chose Beethoven’s Symphony No 4. The video production of her concert debut will be available for three months (until mid-October) in the BR-Klassic media library.
