New Gasteig Receives Award for Digital 3D Planning
BIM is a software-based process that turns construction projects into digital 3D models so that they can be manipulated and managed virtually. BIM is becoming increasingly popular as a more efficient and cost-effective way of completing time-sensitive projects that also uses fewer resources.
The expert jury was impressed by the project’s scale and complexity of the project
The reasons given by the jury of distinguished experts from commerce, building authorities and science were: »The scale and level of complexity of the performance requirements for this project were particularly impressive. A detailed as-built model had already been created, along with twelve building models and 40 component models for planning purposes. Regular planning meetings were held to coordinate the project as a whole using the 3D model and the buildingSMART standards were applied throughout.«
Max Wagner, Gasteig Managing Director, said »Speaking on behalf of the entire team, we are thrilled with the award. The New Gasteig is one of the first renovation projects of its size in Germany to be planned and implemented digitally using BIM from start to finish. Being honoured as BIM Champion 2021 underlines the high quality of our planning.«
