The current corona measures are expected to apply until at least February 14th. This means that, until further notice, no live events can take place in the Gasteig. München Ticket sales on site as well as the Munich City Library will remain closed. Due to the current curfew, the Gasteig closes at the earlier time of 9 PM.

With some changes, the Eleventh Bavarian Infection Protection Regulation now applies up to and including January 31, 2021. The lockdown will be extended until February 14, 2021. This was decided by the Bavarian cabinet on January 20. The approval of the Bavarian State Parliament is still pending. All events that serve the purpose of entertainment and recreational activities are prohibited for the time being. Unfortunately, no public events can take place in the Gasteig until further notice. You can find information about cancelled and postponed events at If you have any questions about your tickets, please contact the organisers or the advance booking office where you purchased your ticket(s). The respective event organisers are given in brackets at the end of each event description on the Gasteig website.

Due to current political decisions, all concerts already announced by the Munich Philharmonic for this period also had to be cancelled. If you have already bought tickets, they will, of course, be refunded. In that case, München Ticket will contact you regarding method of repayment. Several concerts will be streamed. Due to current regulations, the Munich City Library in the Gasteig will remain closed. From January 27 on the library offers a »Click & Collect« service (more information in German – external link). Media can be returned via the return machines. All current loans will automatically be extended until four weeks after reopening. The Münchner Volkshochschule (Munich Adult Education Center) has completely interrupted its course and event operations in attendance from December 16, 2020. The college will personally notify all affected participants and lecturers. The extensive online courses and activities will take place as planned. Classes at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich (HMTM) will continue under strict hygiene regulations. Students of the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich can use the practice rooms until 8:15 PM. However, until further notice, no public events will take place at the HMTM during this period. For up-to-date information and regulations, visit (in German language).

Due to the current curfew, the Gasteig’s opening hours are as follows until further notice: Monday to Sunday 8 AM to 9 PM.
