Bellevue Couture

»Bellevue di Monaco«, a residential and arts centre for refugees and interested Munich residents, is operating a pop-up shop called BELLEVUE Co̱UTURE in the Gasteig.

BELLEVUE Co̱UTURE provides employment opportunities for refugees and offers a creative alternative to an increasingly throwaway society. The sewing project was set up by costume designer and art therapist Kissi Baumann. It is based in a tailor’s workshop in the heart of Munich and reinvents fabric remnants as high-quality and unique items. Apart from learning the language, the key to being in charge of your own life is finding a job and earning a steady income and BELLEVUE Co̱UTURE helps refugees to achieve that.

The thinking behind the concept is to bring together the diverse cultural backgrounds and creative ideas and channel them into producing patchwork items made from deadstock material. Every bag, basket, cushion, case and cover is individually designed and created in the workshop.

You can find more information here and on the website of Bellevue di Monaco (both in German language).
